Posted

The New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum’s new curator supervisor, Karrie Porter Brace, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her position at the Las Cruces Museum, the museum said in a news release.

Porter Brace oversees the museum’s programming staff who handle exhibits, education, collections and events.

“We are excited and fortunate to have someone with Karrie’s experience and skills join our team at the Farm & Ranch Museum,” said museum Executive Director Heather Reed. “She brings valuable experience to this important position, and we look forward to the impact she’ll make in the museum’s programming endeavors.”

Porter Brace, a self-described Midwestern farm girl who fell in love with archaeology and history, has more than 30 years of experience in managing museums and cultural resources. She worked in international project and institutional management from New England to Latin America.

“I am very honored to join the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum as the curator supervisor,” Porter Brace said. “The folks and facilities here are top notch! I dreamed of living in New Mexico for a very long time. Las Cruces and Mesilla are great communities with wonderful resources, people and legacies.”

Porter Brace most recently served as executive director of the Cave Creek Museum in Cave Creek, Arizona. Before that, she served for 11 years as the chief exhibits curator for Arizona State University Libraries, Archives and Special Collections in Tempe, Arizona.

A graduate of Beloit College, Porter Brace has served as an instructor, archaeologist and has presented dozens of papers and lectures on a variety of topics.

The museum, located at 4100 Dripping Springs Road, is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
