Las Cruces Fire Department promotes new deputy chief

Posted

The Las Cruces Fire Department announced that Sean Heck, a 22-year department veteran, will serve as the new deputy chief of administration.

According to a news release, Heck will oversee the department’s customer services while handling administrative duties. Heck replaces Justin Allen, who retired in August.

“I would like to thank my brothers and sisters at the Las Cruces Fire Department for their support in helping me reach this goal,” Heck said in the news release. “In addition, I would like to thank Fire Chief Jason Smith and Deputy Chief Michael Daniels for having the faith in me to succeed in this role.”

The news release also said Heck graduated from the Las Cruces Fire Academy in November 2002. In his two decades of fire service, he’s served as a paramedic and LCFD’s EMS coordinator.

“Heck’s efforts as EMS coordinator led the department from intermediate level care to paramedic level care certifications,” the news release said.

Heck earned a bachelor’s degree in fire sciences in 2007 and became a lieutenant within the department. In 2016, he was promoted to battalion chief.
