Posted

A Las Cruces man who pleaded guilty to hiring a hitman to kill his girlfriend’s mother received a ten-year sentence this month.

Leif Hayman pleaded guilty to trying to hire a hitman from the website RentAHitman.com in February 2024. Court records state that Hayman enlisted the services of a hitman between April 10, 2022, and continuing through May 11, 2022.

The hitman arrived at Hayman’s house and agreed to the murder for $200, court records show.

However, the hitman was an undercover federal agent.

A federal judge handed down the ten-year sentence on September 6. After his prison sentence, Hayman will also be subject to three years of supervised release.
