LCPS Foundation seeks donations for student personal hygiene drive

Posted

The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation’s annual “Care Kits for Kids” personal hygiene donation drive for high school students continues through Saturday, Nov. 4, the foundation said in a news release.

The nonprofit foundation’s role includes helping to provide students with what they need to be better prepared for their school day, the news release said. For many students, this includes helping them to obtain personal hygiene items they cannot afford.

The LCPS Foundation is teaming up with Three Crosses Regional Hospital, MountainView Regional Medical Center and Memorial Medical Center to solicit the donation of items for the drive.

The drive will collect shampoo/conditioner, body wash, soap, lotion, deodorant, oral care products, feminine hygiene products, toothbrushes and toothpaste, dental floss, ear swabs, socks, underwear and laundry detergent (pods or 30 ounces or less containers), the news release said.

Donations can be dropped off at any of the three hospitals or at LCPS’ Dr. Karen M. Trujillo Administration Complex, 505 S. Main St. Suite 249. Donations can also be dropped off at any Las Cruces Walmart Supercenter 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 4.

Monetary donations can be made on the LCPS Foundation website at lcpsf.org or by texting CareKits4Kids to 44321. Monetary donations will be used to purchase basic kits at $25.

Once the collection drive is over, the care kits will be readily available to students at each LCPS high school.
