The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office said a 59-year-old man was found dead Monday after he went missing the night before.
Deputies responded to the Rio Grande near 2215 Run Along Road, north of La Llorona Park, to search for Hector Barraza, 59, after receiving reports he and two children had drowned around 8 p.m. on June 16. The two children were discovered safe, but Barraza was nowhere to be found.
Search teams discovered Barraza around 1 p.m. on June 17. No foul play is suspected, according to DASO, but the state Office of Medical Investigator has taken over the investigation to determine the cause of death.
