The New Mexico State University Faculty Brass Quintet will be perform its final concert of the season at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 1, in Atkinson Recital Hall in the New Mexico State University Music Building, 1075 N. Horseshoe St. on the NMSU campus.

The concert is free and open to the public.

One of the most active ensembles in the area, the NMSU Brass Quintet has had more than 30 performances during the past two semesters, said quintet member Frank “Pancho” Romero.

“Most every week, this premiere ensemble can be heard performing at local high schools, middle schools and even elementary schools in the greater Las Cruces area,” Romero said. “They have also performed at many El Paso high schools and took a tour late last semester to perform in Clovis, Lovington, Roswell and Alamogordo. Recently, the quintet performed a special jazz concert at the Mesilla Valley Jazz and Blues Society monthly concert at the Fountain Theater in Old Mesilla.”

The May 1 program will include selections by Anthony Plog, Kerry Turner and Michael Kamen, with special jazz arrangements by Ingo Luis, Jack Gale and quintet member Alan Kaplan.

Along with Romero (trumpet) and Kaplan (trombone), quintet members are James Shearer, tuba, Nancy Joy, horn, and Jacob Dalager, trumpet.
