NMSU holds annual Gratitude Walk/Run

Posted

New Mexico State University's Marketing and Communications department issued an invitation to the community to take part in the university’s third annual Gratitude Walk/Run on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The event features a one-mile “fun run” and a 5K timed race across the Las Cruces campus, with newly designated routes beginning at the Horseshoe the university stated in a news release.
With newly designed routes, both races will begin at the Horseshoe, off of S. Espina Street. The 5K is scheduled for 9:15 a.m., and the fun run at 9:30 a.m.

The event was described as family friendly with local food trucks on hand to provide complimentary water, granola bars, fruit and aguas frescas supplied by Alma’s Kitchen. There will also be appearances by NMSU mascot Pistol Pete and the NMSU cheer squad.
Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items as donations for the Aggie Cupboard, which supports NMSU community members facing food insecurity.
“This event has grown each year and has really become something special for our entire community,” Justin Bannister, NMSU’s associate vice president for marketing and communications, stated in the release. “This year, we’re excited to collaborate with the Aggie Cupboard to support our NMSU students, staff and faculty, and anticipate seeing both new and returning participants.”
There is a $10 registration fee to participate in the fun run and a $20 fee for the 5K race. Both events are free to individuals 12 and younger. 5K teams of four or more are eligible for a $5-per-team-member discount. The first 200 registrants are eligible to receive a free t-shirt.
Registration, additional information and volunteering are available online at NMSU.link/gratitude-2024.
