NMSU presidential finalists to visit campus

Posted

The five finalists for New Mexico State University’s presidential search will visit the NMSU campus the week of Sept. 9 for day-long interviews with staff, faculty and the public.

Each finalist will be given a day to meet and greet various groups before the Board of Regents decides to appoint one of them as NMSU’s top executive officer later this year.

“The expansion of our forum schedule to include a community forum in the evening is designed to increase your opportunities to hear from each candidate,” said regent chair Ammu Devasthali in a news release.

Each candidate will have the following schedule on their designated day.

  • Faculty and Staff Forum: 10 to 10:50 a.m., Corbett Center Auditorium
  • Student Forum: 1:30 to 2:15 p.m., Corbett Center Auditorium.
  • Community Forum: 5:30 to 7 p.m., Las Cruces Convention Center

A news release said that questions would not be limited to the expected audience of each presentation. The presentations can also be live-streamed at this link.

Arsenio Romero, the former Public Education Department secretary and former NMSU regent, has the first day on Sept. 9.

Brian Haynes, vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of California, Riverside, will appear on Sept. 10.

Neil MacKinnon, a professor, provost, and executive vice president for academic affairs at Augusta University.

Monica Lounsbery, dean of the College of Health and Human Services at California State University, Long Beach, will appear on Sept. 12.

Valerio Ferme, the University of Cincinnati's executive vice president for academic affairs and provost, will appear on Sept. 13.
