Posted

The New Mexico State University 2023 Summer Theatre Camp is now accepting applications.

This sleep-over theatre camp for students 13-18 years of age (grades seven-12), includes dormitory housing, all meals and a variety of theatre classes from characterization to scene study.

The cost is $325 per camper, which includes tuition, room and board.

Visit theatre.nmsu.edu/performances-events/nmsu-summer-theatre-camp to apply.

The week will begin with a 4 p.m. check-in Sunday, June 18, at Garcia Hall on the NMSU campus. It ends with a public presentation of work from the week at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at the Mark and Stephanie Medoff Theatre in the ASNMSU Center for the Arts, 1000 E. University Ave.

NMSU Theatre Department Head Wil Kilroy is the camp’s artistic director. He will be joined by advanced university students and alumni as camp faculty.

The camp will give students a basic understanding of performance concepts and introduce them to the skills needed to create a stage production: voice, improvisation, dance, scene study, character development and other acting techniques.

Students will engage in performance exercises to enhance acting talent and assist in developing imagination, confidence, self-awareness, teamwork, collaboration and communication skills.
