Police are investigating the killing of an 80-year-old woman found dead earlier this week as a homicide.
Police discovered Maria Rodriguez, 80, inside a home on the 100 block of W. Madrid Road on Aug. 4. A news release confirming the death said that investigators did not initially classify the death as a homicide but have since escalated the incident.
“Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section are now actively investigating the case as a homicide,” the release said. Anyone with information relevant to the case was asked to contact police at 575-526-0795.
