Police seek man after Telshor shooting

Posted

The Las Cruces Police Department issued a call for public tips in its search for Sergio Guadalupe Jacquez, 30, whom they believe responsible for a shooting on Sunday on Telshor Boulevard. An unidentified man, age 36, was critically injured in the incident.

Police were dispatched at about 3:30 p.m. on June 23 to the 1400 block of S. Telshor Boulevard, where they found the victim with at least one gunshot wound. He remained in critical condition at an area hospital as of Monday evening.

According to a news release, investigators believe Jacquez was at the apartment with his girlfriend when the other man arrived; and that Jacquez fired on the man following an argument, then fled. An arrest warrant has been authorized for Jacquez, police said, on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deady weapon and possession of a firearm by someone previously convicted of felonies.

Police asked anyone with information helpful in locating Jacquez call the department, and warned that he may be armed and should not be approached. They also stressed that individuals who harbor or assist a person in eluding arrest could also face criminal charges.
