Spotted Dog brewery celebrates 10th anniversary

Posted

Ten years – or is that 70 in dog years? In any case, the Spotted Dog Brewery is celebrating a decade of serving beer and food in Mesilla. The microbrewery has scheduled a series of events celebrating its birthday next week it describes as family-friendly, and includes opportunities for beloved doggos to participate, according to a news release.

The Grandles have said the brewery’s brand was inspired by Ryleigh, their bluetick hound. According to SpottedDogBrewery.com, Ryleigh’s successor is Millie, another bluetick.

A “Pups at the Pub” photo contest will accept entries, in person or via social media direct messages, until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Visitors to Spotted Dog will have the opportunity to vote for their facorites from Thursday to Sunday of next week.

On Sept. 19, Spotted Dog promised giveaway surprises and, for the whole week, a special menu alongside popular items such as their enchilada taquitos, patty melt and chicken bagel sandwich.

Festivities also include a live musical performance by Catfish Fry from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Brewer Jerry Grandle and his wife and co-owner, Susan, mark Sept. 19, 2014 as the official anniversary of Spotted Dog’s opening. Initially opening with a selection of three beers, the enterprise has expanded its tap list and built a full menu for a venue featuring indoor and outdoor patio seating at 2920 Avenida de Mesilla. Grandle offers a variety of beers in Belgian, German and American styles, including seasonal brews.

“We are so incredibly thankful to our customers and our community,” Susan Grandle stated in a news release. “The support for the past ten years has been truly amazing. In an industry that can be very challenging, a milestone like this is significant.”

Additional information about the week’s festivities is available at facebook.com/SpottedDogBrewery by clicking on the “events” tab. The business also invites visitors to share photographs on social media using the hashtag #SpottedDogBrewery. Spotted Dog is in operation seven days a week at the corner of Avenida de Mesilla and Calle del Sur.
