LCPS SUMMER COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES

Summer Commencement Ceremonies moved to Centennial High School

Posted

The Summer Class of 2021 and graduates from the Class of 2020 will have their moment on the stage this Thursday, July 1 at Centennial High School. Originally, summer commencement ceremonies were scheduled to take place outdoors at the Field of Dreams, but due to a high chance for inclement weather on Thursday, district leaders moved plans for the graduation to take place indoors in the main gymnasium at Centennial High School located at 1950 Sonoma Ranch Blvd.

On the morning of July 1, there will be two separate graduation ceremonies. The commencement ceremony for the summer graduating class of 2021 will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. Students will receive their diploma at graduation. The commencement ceremony for graduates for the class of 2020 will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Students from both classes will be allowed to decorate their graduation caps.

There will be a graduation rehearsal on Wednesday, June 30. Rehearsal for graduates from the class of 2021 will begin at 9:00 a.m. The class of 2020 will have their graduation rehearsal at 11:00 a.m.

Given the limited capacity at the gym at Centennial High School, students from the class of 2020 will each be allowed to invite up to four guests; tickets will be handed out at the graduation rehearsal on Wednesday. Tickets will not be required for guests for the summer class of 2021, as class sizes are expected to be smaller.

Masks will still be a requirement for students, staff, and all guests.

Due to the change in venue, graduation balloons will not be allowed in the gym at the graduation to ensure that all guests can see their graduate walk the stage.

Parking: Graduates are asked to park on the South side entrance near the gymnasium, parents and guests will be directed to park on the North side entrance near the gymnasium. Attached is a site map of Centennial High School that indicates where to park on graduation day.
