Two election precincts in Doña Ana County selected for random audit

Posted

The New Mexico Secretary of State’s Office selected two precincts in Doña Ana County for a random audit as part of the mandatory post-election system review, according to a news release.

The process is meant to ensure that faulty tabulators are detected, according to state law. The process occurs after every election, and precincts from Doña Ana County are often selected because of the county’s size.

"All New Mexicans should be proud of the checks and balances in New Mexico elections, highlighting the fair, transparent, and secure process from early voting to statewide certification,” Doña Ana County Clerk Amanda López Askin said in the news release.

The precincts selected include precincts 14 and 59 for the Libertarian U.S. presidential primary. The county clerk’s office will begin the check on July 1st at 9 a.m. at the elections warehouse at 2480 Lakeside Drive.
