Typewriter Revival revived for June 24 return to COAS Books

The first Las Cruces Typewriter Revival in May had such a good turnout, the creators of the event are doing it again.

The return of Typewriter Revival will be held 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 24, at COAS Books, 317 N. Main St. downtown during the Farmers and Crafts Market of Las Cruces. COAS is sponsoring the event in partnership with The Las Cruces Type Writers.

“The Las Cruces Typewriter Revival is a free family-friendly event that offers an off-ramp from the digital highway via the opportunity to experience putting your thoughts on paper with a vintage typewriter,” said Las Cruces artist Bob Diven, who is one of the event organizers.

During the revival, "The Typewriter Petting Zoo" will feature a variety of working typewriters (both manual and electric) to try out, including a 102-year-old Underwood Standard,” Diven said.

Freshly typed poems will be available, as well as a selection of revived typewriters for purchase.

Visit "The Healing Table," where on-the-spot repairs will be offered for ailing machines, Diven said.
