Electric Light Parade: What to know

Posted

Las Cruces will run its annual 4th of July celebration on Wednesday, July 3, with the Electric 5K and Fun Run followed by the Electric Light Parade.

The running event begins at 7:30 p.m., with the parade following at 9 p.m.

Per the city, the parade route begins at Apodaca Park on E. Madrid Avenue, running west on Madrid, south on Solano Drive, east on Hadley Avenue and concludes at the Meerscheidt Recreation Center at 1600 E. Hadley.

The running event route is the same, in reverse.

Parking restrictions and street closures will be in force along the route, starting at 5:30 p.m., the city stated. Apodaca Park will close and vehicles will be instructed to leave by 1 p.m., with the exception of the pickleball area, which remains open until 4 p.m.

The city advised drivers to expect delays in the vicinity of the event as well as increased pedestrian traffic, and to consider alternative routes.

More information is available via the parks and recreation department at 575-541-2550.
