Las Cruces Symphony celebrates Dia de los Muertos

Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra’s (LCSO) Pops 1 concert celebrates Dia de los Muertos with concerts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, in the New Mexico State University Music Building’s Atkinson Recital Hall, 1075 N. Horseshoe St. on the NMSU campus.

Tickets are $38.91, $48.91 or $58.91, depending on where you sit in Atkinson Recital Hall.

Michele's Dance Academy Ballet Folklorico Ensemble, the Paso del Norte Chamber Orchestra from Cuidad Juarez, Mexico and the LCSO Youth Orchestra will be part of the performances.

The concerts will feature the music of Spanish composer Manuel de Falla y Matheu (1876-46) and Mexican composer Arthur Márquez Navarro (1950- ). Falla is sometimes credited as Spain’s greatest composer of the 20th century. He received the Spanish Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Alfonso X the Wise in 1940. Marquez received the Gold Medal for Fine Arts of Mexico in 2006 and the National Prize for Arts and Sciences (Mexico) in 2009.
