Lunchbox Lemonade finale at Unidad Park

Posted

As summer approaches its conclusion, the Las Cruces Police Department’s series of “lunchbox lemonade” events is set for hold its “season finale” Friday at Unidad Park’s splash pad.

The lunch events, hosted by the LCPD’s community outreach team, run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at local splash pads, with residents of all ages invited.

“Participants can visit with team members, discuss police matters and share their concerns about public safety while their kids cool off in the splash pad,” the city explained in a news release.

At Friday, the concluding lunchbox lemonade will convene at the Unidad Park splash pad, 1501 E. Hadley Avenue, with participants encouraged to bring a sack lunch. The police department will provide popsicles and lemonade, with those concessions sponsored by Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers restaurant.

The series of events began in June at Plaza de Las Cruces downtown, with subsequent meetings at Metro Verde Park as well as the splash pads downtown and at Unidad Park.

Unidad Park is a community facility built in 2001 entirely by community volunteers with donated materials and labor. The splash pad was among improvements funded by 2018 general obligation bonds, with a ribbon-cutting in 2022.
