Mesilla gallery presents oil and watercolor show

Posted

The Mesilla Valley Fine Arts Gallery, located at 2470-A Calle de Guadalupe in Mesilla (across from the Fountain Theatre) will feature two local artists for the month of January: Sue Ann Glenn and Yvonne Postelle.

In a news release, the gallery said Glenn “brings to life ordinary objects and scenes” through watercolors. Glenn studied art education at Central Michigan University and retired after a 32-year teaching career to focus on her own art. Glenn has exhibited locally and in juried exhibitions, and is a member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society, the gallery stated.

Postelle works primarily in oils and depicts landscapes since retiring from business in 1989 to study and practice her art. She has exhibited regularly in group and juried shows and volunteered with local art associations, per the news release.

In February, the gallery plans to celebrate Love of Art Month with a “Mini Masterpiece game” involving at least 16 artists contributing “miniature art works in the style of old and new masters.” Visitors will rate the entries and guess at the masters inspiring the works, with the possibility of winning a $250 gift certificate. The game will be held through the month of February.

The gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. More information is available by calling 575-522-2933 or visiting MesillaValleyFineArts.com.
