Sage Café expansion begins Friday

Posted

An expansion of Las Cruces’ Sage Café community center, 6121 Reynolds Drive on the city’s east mesa, begins before sunrise Friday as workers will seek to pour a foundation and beat the heat.

According to a news release, concrete trucks will take their positions at about 3 a.m. on June 28 in order to place the concrete during early-morning temperatures. The project is anticipated to finish by 9 a.m.

The Sage Café is a venue for senior and community services including meals, a computer lab, fitness classes, games and other activities as well as a public library branch that hosts events and a weekly book club. It sits next to a community garden that will be relocated to a site close by.

Information about the project is available via Thomas Gallagher at 575-528-3121 or tgallagher@lascruces.gov.

Sage Café’s operating hours are Monday thru Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, contact 575-528-3151 or visit LasCruces.gov.
