The winning selections for the city of Las Cruces’ inaugural “Art Stop” rotating art exhibit were announced last week. The program places art along RoadRUNNER Transit routes, with works selected by a jury from admissions through a previous call for artists. The works are expected to be installed by early February and remain in place for a year.

The selections and locations were announced by the City Art Board, under the Quality of Life Department:

“Never Stop Growing (Nuna Pares de Crecer)” by Daniel Alejandro Carranza: Bus shelter at Walnut Street and Lohman Avenue.

“La Calavera” by Beatrice Chavez: Bus shelter on Lohman Avenue near Mountain Regional Medical Center.

“Contemplation” by Brigette Kearns: Bus shelter at University Avenue and Jordan Road, across from the New Mexico State University book store.

“Wolf” by Virginia Romero: Bus shelter at Water Street and Griggs Avenue, near the former El Paso Electric Co. office parking lot.

“The Locals” by Chanel Scott: Bus shelter at Del Rey Boulevard and Mars Avenue, near the Veterans Administration clinic.

“Desert Song” by Cate Thomassen: Bus shelter at Valley Drive and Hadley Avenue, near Save-Mart.
