Agave Artists Cooperative Gallery presents the work of Sylvia Sierra

Agave Artists Cooperative Gallery welcomes Sylvia Sierra as the Artist of the Month for August 2024. Sylvia works in both pastels and oils, creating beautiful landscapes and portraits utilizing the illumination of varied natural and majestic light sources. As a member of the Agave Gallery, Silvia has embraced the artistic approach of different artists and enjoys the exchanges that come with working in a cooperative gallery. Silvia considers herself an artist always in training, observing other artists and exploring other media such as ceramics. Silvia’s artwork has incorporated acrylic as well as recycled glass as mixed media. Her paintings have a sense of dimension and connection to the landscapes she creates.

Sylvia will present an Artist's Talk from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, August 17 at the Agave Artists Cooperative, 2250 Calle de San Albino, Mesilla. Hours are 11-5 Friday through Monday. Info: AgaveArtists.com

The Super Secret Improv Show Returns

Join local actors Rachel Thomas-Chappell, Casi Galban, Joshua Taulbee and Erin Wendorf as they introduce you to “spontaneous ensemble theatre,” performing a blend of short form improv games, followed by a full-length one-act play, all based entirely on audience suggestions. Even if you’ve caught this troupe before, they guarantee that every show is fast-paced, unpredictable, and totally different from anything you’ve seen before. The proof is in the performance. The differences come with the audience.

The Super Secret Improv Show turns comedy on its ear at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, August 10, at the Black Box Theatre, 430 N. Main St., Las Cruces. Info: 575-523-1223, or No-Strings.org
