The New Mexico Banitas, Las Cruces’ women’s tackle football team, took a second consecutive American Conference championship last weekend when it beat the Oklahoma Rage in Cloudcroft.
The Women’s Football Alliance Division 3 conference championship kicked off at Bears Stadium on July 13 and ended an hour later with a 40-24 victory for the Las Cruces team.
The Banitas went into the match with a 5-1 regular season record and a June 29 victory over the Rocky Mountain ThunderKatz, which opened the door to the championship game.
Next, the Banitas advance for a second consecutive shot at the national championship on July 26 in Canton, Ohio.
