Posted

The New Mexico Banitas, Las Cruces’ women’s tackle football team, will play the Oklahoma Rage Saturday, July 13, in the Women’s Football Alliance Division 3 American Conference Championship game.

The game begins at 4:30 p.m. on July 13 at Bears Stadium, 21 Lost Lodge Road in Cloudcroft. The Banitas are based in Las Cruces, but played their 2023 and 2024 regular season games in Cloudcroft.

Tickets are $10, with free admission for ages 5 and under. In a news release, the team encouraged Las Cruces residents to attend the game and support their local team.

The Banitas, who finished the 2024 regular season with a 5-1 record, defeated the Rocky Mountain ThunderKatz June 29 at the Field of Dreams in Las Cruces to advance to the championship game.

Saturday’s winner will advance to the WFA Division III national championship July 26 in Canton, Ohio.

If the Banitas advance, it will be their second consecutive American Conference Championship and second trip to the national championship.

The Banitas have the best win-loss record of any New Mexico women’s football team in history, and have not lost a game at home since the team was established.
