City road work, LCPD sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols

Northrise Drive lane closure

A westbound lane closure will occur on Northrise Drive, from the intersection of Northrise and Rinconada Boulevard to approximately 190 feet past the Mister Car Wash, from Tuesday, Aug. 22-Friday, Aug. 25. The lane closure may impact RoadRUNNER Transit Route 3. Volt Inc. will be working along Northrise Drive as part of a wire permit.

North 17th Street shoulder work

Shoulder work will occur on north 17th Street, between Copper Loop and west Amador Avenue, Monday Aug. 21-Friday Aug. 25. Conterra Networks will be working along 17th Street as part of a wire utility permit. The shoulder work will not impact RoadRUNNER Transit.

Hadley Avenue lane closure

An eastbound lane closure on Hadley Avenue, from north Compress Road to north Reymond Street, will occur Monday Aug. 21-Wednesday Aug. 23. Volt Inc. will be working along Hadley Avenue as part of a wire permit. The lane closure will not impact RoadRUNNER Transit.

Amador Avenue lane closure

The closure of a westbound lane on Amador Avenue, between south San Pedro Street and the intersection of south Campo Street and Amador Avenue, will continue through Friday, Aug. 18.

Volt Incorporated will be working as part of a wire permit. The lane closure may impact RoadRUNNER

East Boutz Road lane closure

A lane closure will occur on east Boutz Road from south Valley Drive to the intersection of Boutz Road and El Paseo Road from Wednesday, Aug. 23, to Thursday Aug. 31. The lane closure will impact the RoadRUNNER Transit routes 6 and 7. Volt Inc. will be working on Boutz Road as part of a wire permit.

Police sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols

The Las Cruces Police Department will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols within city limits beginning Friday, Aug. 18, and continuing through Thursday, Aug. 31.  Sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols are intended to reduce and eliminate the number of motorists who drive while intoxicated.  Officers will also be on the lookout for other traffic safety violations such as drivers using cell phones, and those who fail to properly utilize seatbelts and child safety seats. LCPD encourages those who plan on consuming alcoholic beverages to utilize a ride-share or a designated driver – someone who will not be drinking alcoholic beverages – for their transportation needs.
