Rescheduled: Bataan Memorial West water outage is Sept. 27

Posted

Some businesses in the following areas will experience a water outage 6-10 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 27:

  • 3497 to 3551 Bataan Memorial West;
  • 3456 to 3543 Rinconada Boulevard.

Adjacent areas also may be affected. If water on your street is scheduled to be turned off, crews will post a door hanger notice a minimum of 48 hours in advance.

Smith and Aguirre Construction will be connecting a new water system during this time.

Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, the City of Las Cruces recommends waiting for the water to become clear before washing laundry.

The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all faucets in the house or business for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the City of Las Cruces at 575-526-0500 for assistance.

For more information, call the city Public Works Department/Contracts Administration at 575-528-3098. For after-hour assistance, call Utility Dispatch at 575-526-0500.
