The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and Hasse Contracting Co., Inc. will continue with repairs to the Interstate 10 to I-25 ramp in Las Cruces, the City of Las Cruces said in a news release.
Beginning Monday, Sept. 11, Hasse, the contractor for the project, will make needed concrete repairs to the bridge deck, barrier walls and support piers. This work is estimated to cost $1.3 million and is expected to take approximately three months to complete.
From www.nmroads.com: “Traffic can detour at exit 142 (University Avenue /New Mexico Highway 101) or to exit 151 (Mesquite) for I-25 northbound travel until further notice. Motorists are asked to reduce speed, obey posted signs, and watch for emergency personnel and equipment. Expect delays.”
Lane closures will be required on eastbound lanes of I-10 for the safety of the traveling public and construction crews. Citizens are strongly encouraged to obey the road closure and stay out of the area.
Damage to the ramp occurred July 11 when a commercial motor vehicle loaded with diesel fuel overturned on the ramp and caught fire.
The driver was able to free himself before the truck and trailer were fully engulfed in flames; the vehicle burned for several hours. Due to the high heat, the bridge deck and other bridge components were severely damaged.
